Fit Brains Learn Better

Empowering Our Children To Learn With A Proven Scientific Learning Approach

Balancing Act

Fast ForWord is a family of research-based educational software products that accelerate learning by developing the student brain to process more efficiently. Reading Assistant software combines advanced speech recognition technology with scientifically-based interventions to help students strengthen their reading fluency, vocabulary and comprehension.

During the morning talk show, Danielle Knox, host of "The Balancing Act," interviews Sherrelle Walker, chief education officer for Scientific Learning. Knox and Walker open the segment with a brief discussion on brain plasticity, the brain's ability to change as it learns new skills. Walker describes how Scientific Learning's products use patented technologies that leverage the science of brain plasticity to exercise students' brains and help them learn. The segment also features a video of Josie, a fifth grade student who participated in the Fast ForWord program at her school over the past year and achieved a reading gain of more than two years. Viewers will learn how students using the software achieve, on average, a one to two year reading gain in eight to 12 weeks.
